The Chamber's Drug's Don't Work Program promotes a positive environment by assisting businesses in their efforts to establish a drug free workplace. Members meeting the five step criteria are eligible for a 7½% Worker's Compensation reduction, as well as additional reductions in their Unemployment Insurance and potentially in their health insurance rates.


Entrepreneur Recognition

Nominations are accepted on an on-going basis for "Entrepreneur of the Month" award recipients to be honored by the Chamber and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Beginning in 2008 monthly winners will be encouraged to apply for the "Entrepreneur of the Year" award to be presented during the Chamber's Annual Dinner. View monthly award winners.


Existing Industry Services

The Cherokee County Chamber and Development Authority of Cherokee County are partnering in 2008 to host Existing Industry Roundtable meetings for local industries. Five regional meetings are being held around the county this year. Industries are encouraged to attend the meeting in their region, or all if time allows. These roundtable meetings will provide opportunities for industry representatives to meet and discuss issues of concern.

Principal For A Day

The Education Committee assists in coordinating the annual "Principal For A Day" program. Every fall business leaders volunteer to be the "Principal For A Day" in each of Cherokee's public schools. Through the program volunteers gain insight into the daily challenges faced by educators and administrators.

Participation in Teen Leadership Cherokee will demonstrate that in this transient society, a diverse group of people working together, rather than individually, can be effective in solving the problems faced by the community.

Workshops are scheduled on a monthly basis for members and non-members. Programs are designed based upon suggestions by the Chamber membership. Subjects vary and include informational programs designed for various types and sizes of businesses.
